I don't think I was prepared to deal with certain issues at such an early age with my girls. I found myself, initially, wanting to fix everything. Then I realized that the most powerful thing I could do was to simply walk through the difficulties with them, listen attentively, empathize and validate feelings. There are such different stages of Motherhood! I remember when Christopher was born that I thought to myself... how could Anthony's mom ever not talk to him EVERYDAY??!!
